So he designed the Inka pen, which writes at any angle, temperature and altitude as well as underwater. The pen is designed for extreme outdoor enthusiasts, so backpackers can write in their journals, hikers can sign the mountaintop registry, and paddlers can take down a phone number. The pen also works for travelers who need to scribble a postcard on the plane. The stainless steel pen weighs 0.6 ounces and has an O-ring that can attach to a carabiner or key chain. "It always fits in their weight-space budget," Adelman said.
