Some gear is just pure guilty pleasure, although it's a bonus when it turns out to be useful, too. The Inka Pen falls into that category. Is it crucial to own a pen pressurized to write wet or dry at any angle (even upside down), any termperature and any altitude (and under water), fabricated from aerospace-grade materials and small enough to attach so comfortably to your key ring or clothing you'll hardly know it's there? Probably not. But is it fun to yank it out of its holster to use at the flick of a wrist, or build it into a full-size pen like some funky Chinese puzzle? You bet. The Boulder company that developed the Inka Pen promises that its cartridges last 2-3 times longer than regular ones, and packages it in recycled materials. With the exception of ink refills, they come with a lifetime warranty.
